RXT 260 problems after Fizzle intake & catch can

I have a 2012 RXT 260 & I just installed the Fizzle intake & catch can. I took it out & punched it in sport mode & it took off like it used to. I took a left turn & let off the throttle & then it wouldn't go any faster than 50. It also didn't have the power it used to either. Took it back to the dock & I heard & saw water running from the middle/ rear part of the jet ski.

The water was coming inside like a constant stream, not a trickle & not a river.

    What are my problems??

    Thanks.

you knocked the top hat loose while messing with the intake allowing the bellows to relax and water to leak in.

    ... is my guess

I have no idea what you are talking about. Haha. But is it something I could fix myself?

yes. The top hat looks just like a top hat. It sits over a c-clip in the drive shaft and keeps tension on the bellows. Chances are the top hat slid forward and you just need to push it back over the c-clip assuming it didn't pop out. Pull the large rubber flap back and have a look.

Haha. Okay. I will have to look once I clean it up. But would this cause the ski top only do 50 & to not have as much power?

Yes. It's sucking air(cavitating). You can boil water doing this.

you need to find out if the leak is on the engine cooling side, run the ski on a hose for a short period to see if it leaking from a hose or anywhere else, it could be be the carbon seal which is pushed against the top hat by the bellows to test that back into the water tied up to trailer and start up look around the drive shaft for leaks
