    Possibly Upgrading my PWC

    Hello Everyone

Im thinking on upgrading my PWC, I have been researching the forums for a while and trying to take in everything. Alot of information out their. I have alot of questions to ask. For the past two years I have been riding on Lake Stevens by Everett. And I want to transition into salt water with a bigger PWC, and join in some of the recreational calander events.

    Question:

    1. I have read that the average cruising speed of a PWC is about 40mph and it seems that most stock PWC go about 60mph top . Why would I need a PWC with a supercharger?

    2. And when your group goes out what type of riding do you do? Is it racing, touring etc.

I have more questions to come.

    Curt

You don't need a supercharged recreational ski for most rides Curt. Most of our cruising is done between 30-45 mph. Now if the group you ride with is composed mainly of modded supercharged skis or GPR conversions, well lets just say you don't want to be the only "Spark" in the group.

I don't want to ride a ski with a charger on it. Too many opportunities for failure. The other factor of not being charged is fuel consumption. A large tank that sips fuel, especially 87, goes a lot longer between fill-ups. And few marinas in the Sound carry 92.

Thanks Rooster and Cap'n for your replys

On fuel consumption, your saying two PWC going at 40MPH one SC and one not SC are going to have diffrent GPH, by alot or a little.
I did not know that most marinas did not have 92 octane. Thats a factor.

Reason about the supercharge PWC questions is that I noticed that Prices between SC and none SC are really close to each other.

    Again thanks for your Replys

    Thanks Curt

Vxs/r is a good ski on 87 octane which is the major type of gas sold at most marinas or gas stations. It is few and far between to find super on the water unless you are someplace that has lots of higher end boats. If you are going to be in certain areas just call a local marina and ask if they sell high test . Never had one not offer up who did in the area if they didn't .

If you come out I'll let you take my ski out for a spin. I'll just warn you now that once you ride a SC ski you may not want anything else. At least thats what happened to me . BTW mine is by no means fast compared to other ski's.
