    Looking to upgrade my PWC

    Hello

Im looking to upgrade my PWC. I run a two stroke now in a lake, and want to go to a four stroke and play in the salt water. Im looking towards a non supercharged PWC. And most of the time I will be cruising.

I have been looking at new PWC and noticed that supercharged PWC are about the same price.

    Questions:

    1. Is a supercharged PWC, is as reliable as a non supercharged PWC?

    2. Does it take alot on maintenace to keep up a supercharged model PWC?

    3. People say that the supercharged models use more fuel, By how much? ( if a supercharged PWC and Non supercharged PWC are doing 40 mph they should be using close to the same amount of fuel, correct)?

    Thanks for your help

    Curt

    More qeustions to come.

    1. No, because there are more components that can possibly fail. Is it a significant risk? Probably not.

    3. Supercharged skis will burn more gas at any speed because it is a constant extra load on the engine...like running your AC on a car. Not to mention pushing more air means more fuel to go with it. Supercharged will cost you ~2 mpg on tour rides...figure something like 7 vs. 5 on a Yamaha FX SH vs. SHO. Just decide if the extra 6-7 mph top end is worth it.

Ok, sorry...9-10 mph for some models. Give the OP some data or input...don't just disagree with one specific number I shared.

IMO there is a Spark or a FI ski (be it Yamaha, Sea-Doo or Kaw) there should be no thoughts on any ski in between! Again just my opinion and I know many people will not agree but I simply see no reason to not spend a few dollars more for a lot more potential. If you are all about range than put a bigger thank in...

Yeah, I'm for a really good secondhand Gti SE 07,08,09 model .. What an awesome hull design.. Heaps of fun to ride in the flat !! Get down and dirty with it .. Bit slippery like a light weight two stroke but with the reliability back up .. The spark looks pretty cool , but haven't had a crack at one yet ..
