Anybody been inside a rxt215 engine?

I have a 2005 seadoo rxt 215 that supposedly has engine damage. The motor is out the ski. Now question is has anyone been inside one? How can I take a peek inside to see if it is damaged enough before I spend the money on a new engine. Any input is appreciated.

split the case. That's what happens when the engine is completely neglected and the oil and its filter are never changed. Expect shot bearings at the minimum.

The dealer claims they did a oil change when I had some work done to it. It wasn't from my lack of maintenance. But I will see about splitting the case and post pics.

I bet that filter started off yellow and perfectly cylindrical Pull the front cover off and look in the screen for particles. If you don't know what you're looking for inside the engine splitting the case is useless.

Yeah I have no idea what to look for. Never messed with a rotax engine and I don't know anybody else who does.

I would check your oil for metal, fuel or antifreeze first. Check the condition of spark plugs, press test your intercooler and oil cooler. Put the starter on it and do a compression test then a leak down test. That will give you a real good idea of any internal issues without tearing it down.

The usual cause of a collapsed filter is water intrusion. The water caused the pleats to swell, and they will not pass either water or oil so the filter collapses.

You will have to pull the engine apart to inspect for damage.

I found a little bit of water in the front OPS under the intake manifold so I'm guessing water was in the engine. I've got a brand new charger for it. I'm starting to lean to get a new engine I can't find any one to work on this one.

    What other work?
Did they happen to change the oil pressure regulator?

See if I can remember.. Crankshaft sensor, charger, new plugs, wear ring, oil change and filter, steering nut... Maybe a couple other things? I can't remember exactly it's been about 5 months ago.
