Please Help! Aftermarket Hubs On A Karavan trailer
The bearings and races are shot on my Karavan trailer. The trailer is only an 06 but salt water got in and did damage to my bearings and races. I want to replace the stock Karavan hubs with pre-loaded Galvanized hubs from easternmarine.com but my karavan trailer owners manual says that the stock hub has a spring loaded rear dust cap so the grease reaches the rear bearing when being pumped in then reaches the front bearing and out the castle nut when it's full. If I use the aftermarket hubs will still be able to use the stock zerk fitting on the end of my spidle to fill with grease? Thanks for any info on this....

When you go purchase the hubs ask the sales person if they will work on a Dexter axle. I know Dexter uses the grease zerk on the spindle, and I believe they are the only one, not too many axle manufactures.

I bought a preloaded hub from them for my trailer(works great)....my shorelandr came with a diagram that gave hub size...call karavan and ask what dimension size hub you need(or try Emarine directly, they're pretty knowledgable)...also get bearing buddies if you don't have them.

Is it under warrantee??.....it sounds like it wasn't greased when new....1 year is way too soon for bearings to go
