Thread: ECM Question

I went through the Sparks part lists online to see what the difference was between the 60hp and the 90hp models. The only thing I found so far is the ECM's have different part numbers: 420666266 for the base unit and 42066261 for the H.O. Cams, intake, exhaust are the same. Reading about the flash and it looks like higher octane gas is a requirement and reliability. Do you think just swapping out the ECM would give the extra 30 hp?

As far as I know both ECM are the same hardware the only thing one will have 60hp flash and the other part number will have 90hp flash so they can tell which one to sell you.

XB12R, thanks for posting this info.
Looks like the cost of the ECM is approx. $800 to $970 depending on the site:

That's a hell of a lot of OEM mark up, but the reverse kit was $30 less than dealer on the now bookmarked osdparts site. Thanks!

xdrian might be correct from what I have read.
Would a dealer have a problem doing a re flash from 60 to 90hp?

Vtech can modify your existing ecu to 90hp spec or 100hp+...
Why pay more?
Also with Vtech you can always return it to stock and clear the rpm profile for a more "stock" looking one.
Also, if you run a second ECU, you need the Seadoo software to marry it to the ski.
Vtech is just a better solution: Faster, Cheaper, more control, tune for your needs/fuels and you own it.
see www.sparkwatercraft.com for the V-Tech maptuner and tuning credit
