    Do you ride at night?

Noob to PWC and specific Florida question. Do you ride at night? Where are the nav lights? I googled the regs and found out a PWC isn't allowed out 1/2 hour before and after sunset/sunrise. I know I'll be out after dark sometimes after a stop for supper at some of our favorite eating establishments that can be docked at. Did it all the time with the boat. How strict are the powers that be on this point?

PWC are not boats. It is illegal in every state to run a PWC after sundown. The powers that be are really strict, big fine.

9 out of 10 water cops hate pwc's.
Very big fines for anything they can write you for...
    Ask me how I know???
I just write donation on the bottom of the check that pays the tickets..
Great write off on the taxes..

I think in Queensland Australia you can run at night? I remember reading of a few night cruises a few years back...

Port/starboard and all round white light were the requirements.

Only time I was ever out at night was when I had to tow another ski in. that was a painful few hours. Didn't run into any cops but I'm sure they would have understood and probably escorted us back.

Oz is like a third-world country with many of their laws, and enforcement of laws. Copyright law is almost never enforced. The NSW police were found to be running pirated software to access their COPS database!

i was stopped late once. still a little daylight left. I believe they said the fine was $5k. nav lights have nothing to do with it. I also can not drive through the canal. Makes it a HUGE pia to get to the ocean around here

Nope, dont do it. Its stupid and dangerous and 110% illegal in florida. That being said, with a good(and even a crappy) set of NVG on, its totally possible dont ask me how i know this

Yet we have to abide by boating laws. There may be a night when they'll be tested by this old grey haired grandpa with the bikini filling granny on the back heading to the boat launch. We will just have to see how that plays out. I wish I had some pics of LEO reactions when I pull my helmet off after they've stopped me on my sport bike.

The plan is to stealth install some nice little red/green LED into the new fangled Spark plastic. The stern light needs a bit more planning and I found some kayak light kits out there that might have something that'll work.
