    Supercharger touchdowns

I have a 2003 Supercharger with low hours. This is the set up with no clutch washers. Is there any way this charger can hurt my engine if it decides to go since I have no clutch washers? How can I check the slip?

Yes it can,if your bearings let go this will destroy your Scer and possibly your engine...You need to have this Scer rebuilt and updated ASAP..i would not even think about checking/setting slip on this charger till it was rebuilt..

Okay it wasn't so much the sc'er I was worried about rather then the engine.

they dont usually go out like a clutched SCer BUT the bearing are my major concern right now...being its that old and never been rebuilt, them bearing can let go at any time..they are recommended to be changed every 100 hours or 2 years....Also being that old you could risk a chance of the gear failing/breaking...if this happens it can be as bad or worse that a clutch failure....Any way you look at it,it should be rebuilt before you run it again...its a ticking time bomb waiting to explode....and when it does,it WILL take out your motor too....

Bearing failure is a 2k+ fix. I've even seen a motor get trashed because of bearing failure.
    Rebuild before running it again.
Jerry does a great job and that way you know its done right!!!!

Thanks, if I can get the money for the rebuild I'll send it in. It seems like the SC rebuild will cost be 450$ if I get it done by Jerry.

$450 is very cheap compared to $2000+ in damages...
There really is no warning when the bearings in the s/c crap out..its just touch down and major fubar...

Please get that supercharger rebuilt before riding the ski again. I can't believe it hasn't failed yet. You are very very lucky!

I thought that was the original charger..

If its only got 20 hrs and was rebuilt 2 yrs ago you should be good for atleast another season..
Just depends on who rebuilt it and if they knew what they were doooing..
