Hard to tell from the pic, but from the PTO end it should look like this.

There are alignment marks on the front face of each gear, counterbalancer and crank, line these up and you should be OK. Did you rebuild or replace the counterbalancer shaft ? The counter balance weights might have been reinstalled in the wrong orientation.

Need a pic of the other side of the gears so see the alignment marks.

Trying to find out if the marks are in the right place . Can someone tell me from the pic if the current lining up of the marks is correct . Not really expecting the counterbalance shaft to be in sync with the crank . Shouldn't it be 90 deg out ?

Can't tell anything from your pic as it's the wrong side of the gears.

Take a pic of your motor just like the one ncdoo posted then we can see what's going on.

this is timed using the marks . i just want to be sure the marks are in the right place since getting the crank rebuilt and eliminate the gears being put on the shafts in the wrong position . i need someone that can tell me without looking at the marks whether this is the alignment that should be expected

I think you're wrong. Looking at the photo, the counter weight on the CB shaft is 180 from the crankshaft web weights which is what it should be. The other end of the crank and CB should be the same with the counter weight on the CB shaft directly opposite (180 degrees) opposite the crankshaft web weights.
