    pop-off guage problem / question

I have one of the thumb pump pop-off gauges , I changed the 1/8 hose to 1/4" to work with my carbs all that is good if I hold finger over hose and pump to 25-30psi it holds fine until I release so the issue isn't my pop-off gauge My needle seat area I filled with WD40 and the needle holds it (or at least has remained full) BUT when I attach the pop-off hose to the fuel intake port and hold finger over fuel return port my gauge goes up about 1 psi as I pump then back down (I'm thinking leak but needle seat is holding wd40) , there are no bubble around the needle seat and if I release my finger form the fuel return port there is a small amount of pressure just no longer showing on the gauge just for the heck of it I swap the pop-off hose an put it on fuel return port made no difference except a little weaker psi when I release my finger off the other port bt still not engough to show on the guage

Ok what am I doing wrong?

first off, you need more than 30psi to pop the needle off the seat

second, you need to put a vacuum cap or fuel line on the other ports to plug them off as you wont be able to hold your finger on there with that much pressure

I was use the 25-30 psi as a example that the gauge it self holds pressure. my carb pop off should be 32psi

no what I was trying to say is when I attach the pop off gauge to the carb and try to pump it up I can't get more then 1psi but if I just plug the
non-attached hose on the gauge I get psi , it is only when attached to carb I can't get psi
