Question What is the Correct Procedure to break in new yamaha VXR 2013 waverunner

    Hello all,
This is my first post in this great forums, hope I can help and get helped!

I have just bought a new VXR 2013 waverunner and I want to start break in, in the manual, it says :
    1. Run the engine 5 min below 2000 RPM.
    2. Run the next half hour below 5000 RPM.
    3. Run the next on hour below 6000 RPM.
After that you can operate normally.

Is this the correct break-in procedure?

I’m asking because I have some friends with old jet skies saying that the proper way to break in a new engine is to leave the ski in the water running for 10 hours by it self! than you can use it?
    is this correct?

    Kind Regards,
    Waleed

Just don't run it at any set rpms for an extended period of time.
Vary your rpms including some wot after your first hour..

You want to fully exercise the motor to break it in..
Let in warm up for 8-10 min every time you ride before gagging it...
It takes that long for them to reach normal operating temp.

Thank you for the very helpful information.
But a question here, is it better to always warm up the ski before riding it?

You ride it to warm it up. Just don't go full throttle till she's good and warm. It takes 8-10 min for the ski to fully warm up.
