    Plastic coveron camshaft gear

I have an 04 RXP I do not have the plastic cover on the cam gear. I see a lot of the engines with them. What is the purpose? Is this something else I should upgrade.
Also anyone have an extra rocker arm shaft for 215SC 2006 or newer. I cant post in the WTB yet.

    Thanks, Dave

You don't need the plastic cover because it is only for the later models that had the crankcase breather running off the cam sprocket end of the head. 06 onwards.

without the breather there it will fall off and get stuck between the gear and chain

If you put a 2006-up head on a 2004-5 block, do you just re-install the 05 cam sprocket and sensors and ditch the 06-up sprocket and plastic part and 2006 style breather/sensor?

yes vern, you would use the platic cam gear thingy if you were running a 06+ block with the TOPS valve off the pto side of the head.

Still using the 04 head and block but removed the oil jet. Thats why I need the newer rocker shaft. I just saw pics of the cam gear with the plastic cover on the gear. The updates just never end.

if your using an 05 block with an 06+ head you don't need it unless you drill the block and run the 06+ TOPS valve
