Does this look like a decent used trailer ?

Looking at picking this trailer up for a good price ($500). I know its hard to determine by just pictures, but I am trying to decide if this is just surface rust and can be repaired or do you think this thing has seen its better days and I should move on. I dont mind doing some rust removal and painting. Not looking for a show piece, just something to haul my skis. Thanks

Looks like it has been in Salt water quite a bit from the rust pretty much at every joint and bracket. Going to be a lot of work to clean up. New bunks are in order. What is the load rating on the trailer. It looks like an older model shorelander so it may not handle two of the big heavy skis.

If you can see that much rust on the outside where it has paint. Think about what the inside of the tubing looks like where there is no paint ! I personally would pass on that.

Not such a good buy ... for the amount of work you will want to put into it. If they will take like $250 or so go for it. Otherwise you can get really decent 2-place trailers starting around $500 to $700. My 2 cts

    Passed on the deal

I passed on the deal. When you get a bad vibe about something its usually best to just move on. Back to my search for a used double trailer. I may just bite the bullet and buy a new one in the spring. Thanks for the help guys

You can get nice aluminum or galvanized trailers in good or mint condition for 350$. I saw an ad for brand new 2013 Karavan trailers for 500$ yesterday

Just noticed it's a double, you can probably find something a lot nicer for 500$

I ended up buying a brand new loadrite double that can hold 2450. It just got delivered to the trailer dealer and now the shop is doing a custom setup for me for a 3rd ski (perpendicular) to put a small standup on the front that includes the brackets and bunks.
