Seadoo Rxtx260 intercooler fail... once again...
hi, my friend has a 2011 rxtx260 seadoo, and he has has many problems with the intercooler. when he first brought it it has 32 hours and he brought it off his friend, so he knew the history of it and he knew there was nothing wrong with it (still had 12 month warranty). but on his first ride the intercooler failed (at 33 hours) and it was blowing coolant from the rear. warranty covered this problem. they apparently put the new updated one in, i dont know the difference but they added a pisser. the ski has now got 65 hours and just failed again... this time not under warranty but with abit of hagling with seadoo they agreed to change it at no cost, apparenty this is another updated one and he should not have any problems. I own a kawasaki and my local mechanic told me always does the intercoolers on the seadoos and its going to stuff up again, its a matter of time, and the throttle body is stuffed too because the intercooler failed... the throttle body on my friends ski has never been changed. what should he do now? he dosent want to get stranded in the middle of the ocean.. hes thinking of upgrading to a 300x. thanks.

Install a Riva gen III or any other aftermarket cooler, fix the throttle body and rip on!
I wouldn't change skis, there is no reason to.

He could sell the newer oem ic and use the $$$ towards the Riva 3 or fizzel.
The throttle body will probably fail after its been stored for a while.
When he knows that its going to sit for an extended period of time he needs to take the intake hose off the throttle body and spray some anti rust spray into the t/b ..
This will help it not to seize up.
Just when he rides it again its going to smoke for a few min and he will probably need new spark plugs after the oils have burnt off.
I personally don't trust these newest i/c the doo has. Supposedly the last 2 updated i/c were the fix..
Come on seadoo get this shit right once and for all. It's going to start costing you future customers...

The replacement IC with pisser is the same every way except pisser ...
its still the same POS as the old one ...

the intercooler was replaces last season because of the stuff up.. he rode it the whole season, then the ski sat for 10 months straight, first time taking it out this season and the ski had no power at all, the intercooler shit it self. so now he dosent trust the new one either so he wants to either go to a 300x or keep this one and hope for the best
(by the way im from australia so seasons are different from america.)

I'm not a cowy fan so if he wants to wrench more tell him to get a cow...
It's clearly the i/c.
Buy a good after market 1 and problem solved..
Like I said before sell the oem to recoup some $$$

he dosent want to spend any more money on it, but if he does want to upgrade to a riva gen 3 would the stock piping be okay or would he have to upgrade piping too?
thanks for all the good advice much appreciated.
