    Bolt spinout.........what to do?

Hey guys I have started disassembling my GP1300R in prep for installing my mods. As I was removing the Pump shoe one of the bolts spun out. What should I do to get it off? I dont know enough about the nut end without digging in and I dont want to crap out anything before I even get started.

Also What area of the Pump tunnel is it we are re-enforcing when glassing it up? Where are the weak points? Is it the tunnel as a whole or the connecting points?

    thanks
    havoc

Hello Havoc, The 03 1300 had a recall on the pump shoe inserts. The new ones they install are brackets.

Does that mean that Yamaha will replace them for free?

Do yourself a big favor and just install the new brackets and put in an R&D carbon fiber tunnel reinforcement at the same time. Then you're good to go with whatever mods you decide to do.

thanks Jim. I hope the 05' brackets are the same size as the o3' cause thats what I ordered last night. If not 'no big' I'll fit them per the how to.

    Pump Tunnel Reinforcment
    http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...+reinforcement

When doing modifications that increase the speed of your GPR, the pressure that is exerted in the pump tunnel area increases due to the speed increase. The pump tunnel on the GPR has had history of cracking due to the stress of the pressure. Reinforcing the pump tunnel area is a must when planning to mod your watercraft. This ensures the strength of that area is strong enough to withstand the increased demands that the tunnel with have to endure as you go faster.

Also, Update to the newer brackets as mentioned.

Those old inserts with that green glue Yamaha uses will come out easy. I used a long blade screwdriver and took a rubber mallet under them and pryed them up. Some use a heat gun. both methods work.

Okay I got em.......wow that was tough. hard to sling a mallet in there.

My next question is should I re-inforce the area in which the holes are? By that I mean, should I run the cloth over the tunnel and down the sides then drill them out later? In the 'how to' it shows the fiber glass cloth stopping before the transition to the lower surface of the hull. I raelly would like to strengthen that area up around those holes, the old bolts really pulled hard in that area. Left a deep imprint and really looks like a problem waiting to happen. Is there any reason why I shouldnt do this? thanks
