Oil filter removing wrench for Ultra 300X

    Hi,

    Which
oil filter removing wrench did you use for the Ultra 300X ?

The best one I have found is the KAW OEM wrench. KAW part number 57001-1249. It fits the best. There is not alot of extra room where the Oil Filter is on this Ski. So the right wrench for the right job is the way to go here. JB

You can also use a standard oil filter wrench with some 2 inch silicone hose over it.

I found that Lisle 63600 works better than the Kawi oem tool.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...d_i=B0002SR4Q8

    There are 3 advantages.
    1. This one fits on many different OD in case you are using aftermarket filter whereas Kawi tool fits only one size.
    2. This one doen't slip.
    3. Cheaper!

Don't buy an imitation. Buy the original from Lisle - Made in the U.S.A.

Relating to this topic, when loosening the filter, BE CAREFUL not to knock off the oil pressure sensor just above with the ratchet handle as the filter suddenly comes loose. It will cost you some $$.
See the black plastic connector (that's the pressure sensor) above the oil filter:

Use a K&N filter with a box-end wrench, then you don't have to worry about it - plus it's a better filter (puts flame suit on waiting for "OEM filter or bust" mafia)

There was a huge debate over if Kawi would warrant an engine if any other filter was used in place of oem.

Unless k&n has upgraded their metal I would still use a regular filter wrench. I never could get the damn things to work.

    Lets leave this alone guys.

    lol

I use the simple strap wrench too, it works fine. If K&N made a semi-synthetic wrench I'd use that lol
