X charger vs external intercooler for 215

so I was considering installing an X charger with 42# injectors but have concerns regarding the additional fuel consumption since I often go for very long rides, then occurred to me that perhaps leaving the stock charger and changing the intercooler to an external unit might have the same result for increased power but still keep the same range......anybody ever try this?

Better trying the 127 ET drop in wheel with 42 inj ...

been tried on many skis and works well , they use a bit more fuel but u control the power ...

ex intercooler you will loose snap as u need to fill more pipe work etc ...so no real gain unless u run bigger sc .

A external IC kit, like the Fizzle XS, is one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do to a 215 motor.

I'm curious about this as well.

With only an external IC on a stock 215 motor do you need any other supporting mods ?

The stock IC is good for 270-280 hp ...

the 215 sc is too small to show any real gain on a external IC ...

Well, my brother in-law, JT7779, added an external IC from an X ski to his GTX-SC 185, normally a 61-62 mph ski and it now does 66+.......As Troy said, best bang for the buck.

I saw more gains with the external intercoolers than I did going from stock chargers to x chargers.

If the iat's start climbing, you lose power. Less dense air=less power
Buy the best intercooler you can afford as a good unit will handle future upgrades!
