    Knock Sensor Frequency..

    Hello all,

So with all the talk about the 310 Knock Sensors, I got the idea to put one on my 300 and make a circuit to activate a warning light. Most of the Delphi knock sensors have a tuneable range from 1-18Khz for various engine types. I'd assume these high revving engines would be on the higher side of things, but wanted to see if anyone knows any inside info. Thank you for the time..

I doubt its that simple, to add one to the Megasquirt you have to add a whole other board to drive it, in addition the 300 doesnt have the mount for it so it would be tough to get it to read correctly though I could be mistaken. I would just ride it and not worry unless you are using questionable fuel.

Ideally you would mount it on the cylinder or crankcase on the intake side like Waz said.

More like 9-15KHz range. It would be advisable to use handheld oscilloscope to check its working as intended. (or use an electronic engine stethoscope ADD350D or similar)

I think it's going to be very tricky to do above test on a high performance Jetski. Good Luck.

As others members have said using good fuel would be the best option.

I just gotta wonder about this mentality... how in the hell do you know you are using "good fuel"?!

Do you perform a fuel quality test on a sample from the pump every time you fill up the ski, or what?!

Install a flex fuel sensor and a water separator. Thats what I did but for different reasons.

Where im located down under vman I only ever purchase the one brand 98bp ultimate. I will not purchase from any other. Sounds alot easier for us aussies to source good fuel. We only have a few refineries aust wide.
