    Selling FXSHO for VXR....

    Hello, Members

I am thinking about selling my FXSHO online starting in few days and hope I will get sold and start looking to buy like new Yamaha VXR. I really love the power on SHO but fuel cost is $$$$! VXR looks pretty fast with just few mods on it! Do you guys think my decision is right? Can I make VXR to get the power like SHO? I hope I am making the right plan... What do you guys think?

Selling 2009 Yamaha FXSHO with 118hrs. Looking at (DEMO) 2013 Yamaha VXR with 5hrs. I ride Lake Erie, some calm rivers, and bay.

VXR will be great on rivers, but a rough ride in the chop.

You already have a good ski for that application. It depends on how important the fuel savings is to you. If you really want to save fuel you can get the FXHO and give up some speed performance.

Personally I would test ride the VXR in the chop before you buy it; you might be happier with the 2014 FX SHO—yes it will use gas—but at least you can still use regular grade fuel, and that's something no other manufacturer can say for a supercharged engine.

Figure about $1200 +/- for grate, prop, plate or plate mod, ribbon delete, and a couple other minor mods to get a VXR/S to low 70's after purchase price if done by yourself. Not too much research needed .....we already did that!! . You can still use 87 octane but the choice all revolves around what type of water you ride in and whether or not u ride solo. If u r going solo then the VXR/S is a fun ski but u will work! If you ride 2 or 3 up it is tougher to handle and less forgiving in the rough. If the opportunity is there u should ride it in the type of water it will be used in most like suggested above. Good luck with whichever choice you decide. Bruce ----let me know If you want to buy a 2012 vxs that is already set up!!!!

Since you have already spent some time on the FX SHO, going to a VXR as your only Ski may not be the right decision. VXR is a heck of a fun Ski (I love mine) but it does have some limitations in some types of waters (as others have correctly noted above).

The VXR will get better mileage and save you some gas $$$, but I don't believe the savings will be significant. I would not call this a "fuel friendly" sport / hobby . . . but it is a fun one.

If you can get the VXR and keep the FX SHO, I think you will be a happier rider in the long run. JB

Thank you your opinions members! I might just keep my SHO than.. I love doing wave jumping and I thought that VXR will be good one to jumping cuz of lightweight. Whats is the first upgrade that I should do on my FXSHO after the ribbon deleted is done?
