FZ Water cooling options for Stage 3 ski with Turbo

    Hi,

I have looked at different posts and could not find the answers I am seeking.

Can a few of you gents that have some high performance FZ turbo setups please share your engine cooling setups. I wanted to see how I may better the cooling setup I have.

I have water jacketed exhaust setup leading to the turbo and out to the muffles, I believe it is being over cooled possibly leading to reduced exhaust gas temps therefore spinning the turbo less aggressively. I have a Gary Watson turbo setup.

    Any help is appreciated.

ah sorry, I saw you posted "please share your engine cooling setups" but I think what you are actually looking for is exhaust cooling setups?

On my turbo skis I run from the pump to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the turbo piping.... from there the water goes out the exhaust.

    Hope that helps!

Cheers. . I was running too much water through the turbo piping. Changes have been made and its yet to be tested.

I also run the water from pump to intercooler then to turbo piping, working good so far.

Full water jacket system are good and bad.

    * Good because it keeps temps low due to your turbo been mounted in the front close to fuel tank.
    * Bad does to turbo, works better with more heat in the exhaust hosing.

A way around it is to has the map in the Motec ran richer on building boost. this way it will heat up the turbo for better efficiency. Or to the inlet feed to the water jacket hosing put a ball tap valve inline and slow the water feed into the housing. This way you will still be getting water-cooled, just not as much.

    Now we are talking.

    Keep the ideas coming.
    Thanks so far.
