    Little Help in Jacksonville?

I got my eye on a used VX110. Never bought a ski before and got thrashed on my boat. I was wondering if anyone would be available Sat to have a look at a ski with/for me. Buyer says I'm welcome to compression test. I'm happy to throw a few bucks at ya. He's in the Regency area. I can make it any time before late afternoon but the seller sounds like any time is good for them.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I'm a few minutes from regency but I know next to nothing about Yamahas.

few basic rules when buying skis.

Look inside, outside and under neath.
Compression test is a good indicator of major problems but is not fool-proof
i personally would not buy a ski I couldn't test ride. Running on the trailor is not the same as in the water.
If it doesn't look like it was maintain well (dirty, rusty, damaged) then it WASN'T maintained.
Do your resreach into common problems with the model year.
Seller gets brownie points if he has all records for repairs and maintance.

Thanks man. The regency fella fell through, seemed kinda shady. Found another in Mandarin. I got the compression test covered and will be test riding this weekend. Took a look at it on the trailer already, everything is clean, seems to be in great shape. Seller is a mechanic and has been doing his own oil and filter changes annually.

Has he been doing any 'repairs'?

No repairs, just normal maintenance. Original owner. The ski checked out; 178-185 on all cylinders, jumped out of the hole, hit 50 on a very choppy, very cold St Johns, and now I have a VX110 in my garage. Next time you guys ride and don't mind a sea couch tagging along, I'll be there.

Turbo - after the experience with my boat I wasn't going to touch anything with a supercharger.
