Question OIL Specification - API SL with JASO MA

The Top Gun Kawasaki dealer told me not to run the synthetic oil in the Ultra 250x because it would cause the supercharger clutch to slip.

I received my service manual last night (Thanks Richard) and it shows that the Synthetic Engine Oil should be API - SL with JASO MA, I looked it up...see below...

All quality motorcycle specific oils should also carry the JASO Motorcycle Specifications, which are either the JASO-MA specification (no friction modifiers) or the JASO-MB specification (with friction modifiers). The JASO-MA rating specifies that no friction modifiers are used. (I think this is for "wet clutch" applications.)

Does the Ultra 250x supercharger clutch draw from the engine oil for lubrication? (I think that is the question.)

I called Kevin Stubaus and asked him to look into this. Any thoughts?

Scott, when you hear from Kevin let us know what he says. I already have a case of his oil. I am planning on using it when I change the oil.

The supercharger has its own oil. When you take it in for its 10 hour srvice they check the supercharger oil level.

Is that for the supercharger bearings? What about the clutch?

Supercharger service oil is Kluber Syntheso HT68. Can anyone verify these in the service manual? Haven't received my copy yet.

Kevin and I had a conference call with Eddie at Top Gun Kawasaki...who said that the question is in regard to the "Starter Clutch"...no the supercharger clutch.

Eddie also gave me all the Kawasaki part numbers...
    A.) Oil Filter - 16097-0003 (supersedes the -0004 15F version)
    B.) Oil Filter Wrench - 57001-1249 (actually a cup for a 3/8 socket)
    C.) Kaw 4-cycle Oil - W-61020-108 API SL with JASO-MA and NMMA

Still waiting to see what Kevin finds out from corporate.

As I understand it, the belt turns the clutch, but the clutch itself is an electro magnetic clutch. I'm not certain that the clutch is lubed by the engine oil....sold my copy of the shop manual !

There is no belt clutch. the pulley on the supercharger has a dampener type setup. there is also no clutch lue, only the lube in the intercooler type ht68, level is checked by dip stick, capacity not given.
