Is the year part of the vin?

Are they like Yamaha's and the las two on the vin plate the year? I have never worked on seadoo's but I have a chance to pick up a couple that look clean inside and out. If last two numbers are the vin, then one is an 02 white hullwith blue trim, and the other is 01 red hull. They are 2cyl two strokes one has gtx di on the side, the other gt or gtx rotory on the side. Sitting on a very clean double lake trailer 1k for both as they sit on the trailer. Covers are in good condition. Both run, both have low compreasion on one cyl. Trying to do some reserch to see if I want the project.

Your correct. The last 2 are the year. The low compression could be a number of things, but at that price you have some good wiggle room. The DI is fuel injected. Make sure you use the right oil.

The other sounds like it is carbed. Sounds like good project fun to me.

Ty for verifing I figured it was like yami's in that aspect. Ya the 02 is fuel injected for sure. The 01 I didnt get the seat off of and it was starting to rain so I didnt fool with it too much. 02 is spotless inside and out, and owner says the other one looks just as good inside so I didnt fool witht the btoken seat latch too much. Didnt want to look too excited as I had already talked him into taking 1k for it all before I even went out back to see em. They are from Tenn and were fresh water skis. Now to figure out cost and value thanks again for the fast reply

I havnt bought em yet just considering it. I need to go back and get the exact modle numbers and figure out their good running value. They look really clean inside and out, have always been covered. One needs mats tho. I would be flipping these. Not interested in 2cyls myself. The trailer would be hard to sell in my area. It looks awsome right now no rust any where, but anyone that knows anything about salt water would k ow it will o ly last a few years around here. It is a non galvanized fresh water trailer.

I will go get some picks and post up to see what you guys think.

So they have the same engine. Just the red one is smaller and shorter I believe. Top side will look showroom new with a couple hours of cleaning and buffing on both. Little bleaching rash on the bottom of both , no major gauges tho. Both ran 6 months ago with each having low compression on one cyl. I am talking to a family member not the owner, but he loves to talk so I got some good info I think. One might of been run with out oil or wrong oil he says. I noticed a bottle of west marine out board oil in the compartment of one.
