[email protected] intake grate lost mph

Ive just installed an [email protected] intake grate on my 255 rxpx as advised by some of the members here. And ive LOST 2mph

Went from doing 74 back to 72mph
Anyone know why this could be?
I used sikaflex to seal th grate in place as it looked like thats what was used to seal the stock grate.

You should definitely see improvement in hook up
especially in rough water. I have had skis where I'd gain 1-2mph than other skis where I wouldn't see any top speed gains just better hook up.

Could simply be weather changes also. High pressure 30.00" plus, high temps, low humidity, low density altitude, all yield great performance. Conversely, low pressure, low temps, high humidity, high density altitude, will kill 150-250 rpm easy from day to day.

Unless you are comparing grates back to back on the same day, you are kinda guessing.

R&D should definetly provide much better hole shot, hook up, and acceleration. Most people see higher top speed also but not always. Really depends on the conditions.

You wont see any gain (up top) if you still have the limiters in place....

I took the ski out with stock intake grate at 100% humidity and low pressure and got 74mph. Put r&d grate on, 30% humidity and high pressure and got 72?

Does the intake grate need to be glued in with silicone/sikaflex?

R&D makes 2 different grates for a 255 Rxpx. Did you get the closed course grate?
Also what rpm are you seeing?

Troy is correct, I forgot about the closed course grate option. No silicone or glue just bolt it up to 25 ft lbs with Blue Loctite 242, and let set up for 24 hours.

    standard version: http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=862
