    1995 sl750 running problems!

Hello im new to the hulk and hoping to get some help on my ski. Its a 1995 sl750 i bought with a locked up crank, i replaced crank, put new seals on the crank case, all new gaskets throughout the motor, new rings on the pistons, honed the cylinder walls, reading around 115 psi on all cylinders. Went through carbs cleaned and made sure everything was good. New "used" fuel semding unit in tank. My problem is that most of the time from a take off in the water i cant hammer the throttle, i have to feather it to get it going, most of the time when i get it going at high rpms it will run hard but sometimes is cuts out and i have to work the choke to keep it going, its worse when i turn hard, any help would be great... Thanks!

Did you rebuild or replace the fuel pump? The fuel selector valves are known to have flow issues occasionally and need cleaning. Fuel filters and lines replaced? Check the screen in the water separator too. You definitely have a fuel delivery issue if pulling the choke makes it better.

I have replaced the fuel pump with triple outlet pump, i replaced the inline filters with regular universal ones from advance auto, and the screen is clean. Now i havent done anything to the selector valve, i bypassed it last year and didnt seem to make a difference

Those universal filters could be your problem. Did you replace the restrictor in the return line from the carb rack?

Should i get the marine inline filters that are oem and replace the ones i have? And i did not replace it, iv looked in the fuel line to make sure there was one in there but never replaced it. Do they go bad?

The restrictor needs to be in the return line or you will not have enough fuel pressure

No, it does not go bad.

Did you rebuild your carbs? Reset the needles to factory settings?

Upgrade to the Fuel water separator with the wire mesh screen for around $20 and get rid of your fuel filter all together.

I have not rebuilt the carbs, they were very clean when i went through them... I re cleaned them anyways... Yes i reset all the adjustments back to factory.

There already is mesh screen in the water separator that looks to be good, should i replace it with a new one?

    and no inline filters?
