MFD flashing HOT/OIL by waking up, registers NO oil level

My MFD is flashing "HOT / OIL" warning on waking up. It registers fuel level but none on oil. I swapped it out to different ski and it still did the same. Does this mean it is toast? Has anyone have similar issue?
All I can find is warning on actual problem on the ski, not waking up with cold engine (not even running).
    Many thanks

so it flashes even when running?, could be oil sender, an easy way to check is crossing over oil sending wires.

It did the same thing when I put it on a different ski.

I have seen that sort of thing happen before. Its an internal malfunction in the MFD. I had one that showed the hot warning if you woke it up with the mode button but it would go away once the engine was started.

This is the same MFD that previously worked properly on this machine?

Any changes to electrical box or wiring harness?

Nothing change in e-box or harness and yes it was working properly.
I just unplugged it like I always did to get the battery out for a re-charge, then plug it back it after the battery is reconnected. I guess it starts to show its age

I'll try to ride it as is like Bryan said and see if error goes away. If not then it's time to convert over to the new MFI style (already got one handy)

Have you checked inside the electrical box?

Perhaps there is moisture in there.

MFD gives same warnings even when moved to different ski. Problem appears to be within the MFD itself.

Some MFD are not interchangeable with some years/models of watercraft.

I ran into that once where the MFD required a diode (or different LR configuration) in the electrical box. The donor model had the diode, the recipient machine did not. Instant HOT message as soon as the MFD woke up.

Once I figured out what was causing the false warning, adding a diode in the right place solved it.
