    Beware of seaworthy insurance......

I just got my renewal papers in the mail for my policy of my 96 SL900, They are lowering the coverage on my AGREED HULL VALUE from $2500 to only $1000. They also claim that the adjustment would be reflected in my premium. I look only to see that the premium has gone up nearly $40

I did start a claim last year right before the gathering as I lost my gopro off the ski while riding. I had also purchased personal property protection coverage of $500 with a $50 deductible. In case I lost my glasses or cell phone, camera etc. The claim got denied because they only cover water skis, tow ropes, knee boards and tubes, fishing equipment, diving equipment and hunting shotguns and decoys.

I won't be renewing as I did not agree to a hull value of 1k, They state in their letter that the value got adjusted to market value because they never received a bill of sale for the ski. The only bill of sale I got was the signed title which I turned into Sec of state here in Michigan to get the title in my name. Even if I did get a bill of sale it still wouldn't reflect all the labor and parts it took to restore it to it's current condition. I'm not required to have insurance on it in my state but I'd rather have it to be safe.

I'd like to tell seaworthy that if I wanted to be taken for a ride I'd just hop on my ski!

Anyone have any suggestions on a good insurance company for my ski?

    Thanks,

    Mig

Perhaps you could get it appraised. The appraisal document might help define the 'agreed value' for insurance.

I used Boat US for awhile and had no troubles with them.........never had to call them tho. There coverage went down and prem. went up on my 09 Yamaha FZR so I dropped insurance I dont have riders or let anyone pimp my ski so I see no need for it, yea there are accidents but I'll bet my 10yr riding exp I wont crash it

I may look into that for the next insurance carrier I sign with, thanks for the suggestion.

My only reason for having insurance is in case of theft. Anything else that happens I can fix.

You can't fix liability if you hit someone

I dont think you can have just replacement without liability coverage. I carry other liability coverage besides what my Car or PWC insurance would cover.

I though you were saying the only reason you have insurance is for theft and the rest you can fix . I think liability is the most important insurance to have in case you get into a accident out on the water and someone gets hurt , I personally don't care about replacing my ski's , I can do that for under $1,500 but I don't want to have to pay someone money for the rest of my life if I were to be sued
