1990 Jet Mate...Wont Start
I have a 1990 Jet Mate that wont start. It has a new battery and starter relay. The starter spins, but does not seem to be engaging the motor. Is there a trick to getting it started? I am trying to fix it for my dad, and although I am very mechanically inclined, I am stumped. Can anyone help me? Like I said, the starter spins, and you can hear it, but does not seem to be turning the engine. Not sure what to do. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like your bendix is shot. Its behind the flywheel cover.

Sometimes Bendix can become just sticky and won't come out if especially ski was not used for a long period of time, doesn't neccesarily mean it's toasted.
Remove and inspect by trying to extend by hand. If it does extend by hand, lube it well with penetrating oil and reinstall. Should work.

Welcome aboard, leodzns!
Your engine does not have a 'Bendix'. It does not 'extend'. It has a sprag clutch that can slip if gummed up, so yes,you might be able to free it with solvent. To access it, you'll have to remove the front cover and flywheel.
