    Oil in lower case

    I just took top end off from my 650cc engine and the top end are shot anyway has to be rebuild. but what strange is lower end filled with OIL look like car oil not two cycle oil.

    Nobody??? I am going to assume it's not normal so I'll drain it out. Thought I'd ask first.

    There should be no oil in the bottom end.... The gears should be have lube on them, but not enough that it should be pooled up in the bottom end.

    I've had this happen, oil drains from the reservoir through the carbs during long term storage. Yamaha uses little popoff valves in their oil lines to prevent this. I think Kawasaki uses a popoff valve inside the carbs, but not sure exactly where it is.

    I haven't seen any gears inside a 2-stroke crankcase yet...

    He's correct, excuse me, I didn't necessarily mean gears.... Bearings is what I should have said

    I saw some too when I had my 650 opened up. wasn't much at all, maybe a very small puddle. didn't think much of it

    It is not uncommon. As you know a 2-stroke has oil mixed with the fuel. The gas will evaporate after sitting, leaving oil behind.
