What to look out for on 08 RXP-X

    Hey Guys,

Sold my 06 RXP and am looking at a friend's 08 RXP-X 255 with 46 hours. He has had the machine since new with no issues, but hasn't ridden it last 2 years. Just wondering what to look out for, known problems, or what kind of expenses to expect to do any preventative work before it goes on the water.

    Thanks!

    Cool

Pump the old fuel. Run some fuel injector cleaner thru it.
Change oil and filter and rip on...

Bad ass machines that are nearest to bullet proof that doo has made.
Just because of its age it should have a complete s/c rebuild. New washers , bearings and seals... then rip wot!!!!

Thanks for the feed back... I've always loved the look of that model year and have heard good things about them. He is asking a bit much but I know the machine is in good shape so I might have to give in.

I bought one brand new in 08 and rode it for 4 years and had zero problems. It's a monster and you'll love it. And that's low hours too.

make sure the intercooler is NOT leaking internally they are known to allow water into engine and destroy the motor.

How can you tell if the intercooler is leaking?

I would pull the SCer for sure. At least check slip because I am sure its low after 46 hours or better yet send to GH for total rebuild. The metal clutch washers can crack when overheated and fall down into the engine. Chances are it will damage the timing chain and/or crank gear, if you get unlucky.
