FZR - can I run Riva stage III with OEM ECU !?!?
I just finished installing myself RIVA stage 3 on my 2009 blu FZR
everything is working.
It seems I did a good job.
for now I only run engine on the trailer.
with stock ECU it seems all good.
IDLE perfect, good throttle response, engine sounds good.
but when I install the RIVA ECU,
the old POWER CONNECT model,
I have some problem.
1) bilge pump doesn't work
2) Idle is 2300 rpm
3) the engine run and sound ... 'strange'...
and I'm not able to connect to the PC...
I try to explain...
I can download from pc to ECU the maps, flashing the eprom,
but I cannot Download data from ECU to PC.
so I can not do a LIVE monitor when the engine is running.
the question of the thread....
Can I run engine with stock ECU?
I have the mod of stage III,
the RRFPR, E1, air intake 160 mm wear ring and impeller, ecc ecc...
How can I monitor AFR?
I know that with the stocl the rpm are limited at 7500/7700
and the ECU will limit me for the boost value,
in that case I can buy the RIVA BOOST CLAMP.
is it safe for my engine run with stock ecu and E1 wheel and RRFPR set up at 65 static ?
Can I install a AFR GAUGE?
and last question...
In the future...
do I have to try to set up my RIVA ATHENA
buy a refleshed ECU
or buy a Vi-Pec?
Motec is much expensive for me.

That ECU is sucks be careful with base map timing and fuel raise to much +

RRFPR already mounted (static 65psi)
Intercooler - only modded oem intercooler (R&D cooling kit)
AFR gauge (innovate mtx-l) alredy ordered
Boost clamp not yet ordered
pump: 160 mm RIVA pump Tunnel + 15/23R (from riva stage III)
82mph is my dream target speed...
what pump tunnel setup do you run to get this speed?

This is how I got to 82 mph with E1 and stock ecu:
1. Installing full Riva Stage 2 with additional Riva Powercooler with Solas DF 13/22r impeller pitched to 15/26 - 77.2 mph (on the limiter)
2. Swapped the 13/22r impeller for Solas 15/22 pitched to 15/26 - 79.2 mph
3. Installed Leo's pump wedge - 80.4 mph (seat on) 81.1 mph (seat off)
4. Removed Foam inserts and vented the hull - 82.0 mph(with seats on and off). Venting my hull increased my boost by about 1.5psi.
Since you are using a 160 prop, your speed will be slower than mine. I was using a 155 prop. I had my pump tunnel reinforcement custom made by a guy here in my city that works with fiberglass. I also believe I had my fuel pressure at 75 psi static with rising rate vacuum line hooked up with stock injectors/fuel pump to be able to get my afr to 11.9. That's why I used tons of gas. So if you want to use e1 with stock ecu and want to avoid putting fuel pressure so high, you might want to consider larger injectors or higher volume fuel pump.

rising rate 65 static
oem ecu. no boost clamp.
no afr gauge so no afr value.
I will test more when I will install boost clamp and afr gauge.
