2010 rxtx injested water
I've got a friend who let his friends ride his ski today. 1st big mistake... Then they forgot to put 1 of the drain plugs in and started riding. It of course filled with water while there friend was riding it and a check engine and oil light came on. So the son gets on it and he trys to ride it thinking it sucked something up..
I don't know how long it ran with lights blinking and beeping. They finally shut it off and called me.
I drained the water and pulled the spark plugs and filter. No hydro lock / no water in the cylinders. But the oil filter was of course collaped but it also had major silver flakes in it.
Im thinking they starved the motor so long that the flakes came from that.
Question is what doooo you think the flakes came off of??
I changed oil 3 times and baked the motor while the ski was on the trailer in the water for 15-20 min and oil is clear now and it has a fresh oil filter.
Also its still in limp mode with the yellow check engine light on. It got dark so I had to quit. I disconnected the battery in hopes the limp mode will go away.
I will be back tomorrow finishing up but doo you think I'm going to have to bring it to get the candoo to reset it???
Many thanks to all that reply!!!
Luckily it was in fresh water...

Few hundred bucks to split the case and a day or 2 to be safe ...............or a few thousand when you spin a bearing or worse

I'm thinking because the motor starved for oil for a while with the collapsed oil filter the oil pumps were shreading the metal flakes.
The more I think about it the more I think the motor might be toast..
Still want to hear others thoughts as to the candoo hook up and what else the flakes could be from..
Yeah 4skis I think thats next.. all because they didn't shut her down when they 1st noticed a problem..

Why would you take the balls out of the plugs? They serve a purpose...
I'm gonna take the brake lights of my car...I don't see them when I use them, so why not?

I don't know why they had taken the balls out... He did get it 2 years ago with 25 hrs on it.
Today it has 50 and I'm thinking were going to have to crack her open...
Very bad day for them.
There ski boat also started to over heat today.. must be the full moon..
