Thread: OIL (Again!!!)

Hi guys. I've just been given 2 gallons of Quicksilver (Mercury) 'Premium' outboard oil. I used to run my Mercury 150hp on this stuff when I had a boat, and it burned clean as a whistle. Any thoughts as to if it's OK to use in my XL1200Ltd. I don't have any info on the container about specs, but I assume it's up to the job if it's a Mercury recomended oil. Any help appreciated, as it seems a shame to use it in the mower (it's $40 for 4 litres).

I've used the Mercury Quicksilver oil in all my Yamaha's since the beginning, including my 320 hr 98GP1200, and my 170 hr GPR 1200, with not a problem. IF its good for a $15000, 300 HP outboard, outta be good enough for me. I believe the trouble-free hours I've gotten speaks to that.
