Talking Want to see Carnage pictures? Might need more than a tune up!

2003 STX-R we put a SBT rebuild in it (please save the hate....) and went 15-20 hours running well till it lost power one day and I parked it and moved on, finally pulled the engine today (still under warranty luckily) and found it was a massive failure on #2. I'm guessing a carb issue, the oil lines were all new and full with no bubbles, either I had a vacuum leak or fuel starvation causing a lean condition, you experts tell me! Anyway if you want to see the carnage here it is:

That's just plain scary.... I'm right around the 20 hour mark on my 1200 rebuild... Let's hope this was an SBT issue and not something in the fuel system! Although I guess none of that matters with their warranty....

I'm pretty sure it was a fuel issue, finished tearing down the engine today getting it ready to ship back, the #2 piston looks like it got nuked, my wife was laughing at all the bits of metal falling out of the reed opening, aluminum nuggets were in the reed box, the cylinder looks destroyed as well, massive meltdown amazing it is not seized.

Motor porn? A Snuff film maybe!

I thought if you tore it down SBT will fight you on the warranty? That used to be the case, no pun intended.

tear it down as in the intake and exhaust, flywheel, everything you add to the long block after you get it, needs to go back just like it came out of the box
