    reseal or not?

    hi guys,does a msx rideplate need resealing after removeall? (to get the engine out the driveshaft had to be pulled back,the bottom of the pump sits on the rideplate so tightlythe rideplate had to be dropped)thanks guys.

    The ride plate does need to be airtight around the jet pump water inlet, pump mounting base, intake grate and along the front and ride plate sides in that area.

    Probably not so critical for the last few inches towards the rear along the ride plate sides.

    thx for the info,the pump shoe is still sealed,they've just removed the ride plate to pull the pump back,tellme though is it common for the pump to be so tight against the ride plate? again many thanks.

    There are two versions of the MSX ride plate.

    One ride plate ends up closer to the jet pump than the other, but both are quite close.

    I wouldn't want the jet pump to be actually pressing on the ride plate. If that was the case I would probably be grinding a little off the bottom of the jet pump so there was at least a millimeter or so clearance.
