Time for a change of scenery???

Well I'm not sure if this is the right time or not or whether it may be a case of "better the devil u know rather then the one u don't" but over the last month or so I have been contemplating a change of ski in the near future. Presently I own a Yamaha FX-140 (2003) with a smidge over 40 hours on the clock, so basically still a fresh ski. I am looking at the possibility of jumping ship and purchasing a Seadoo RXP. I am hoping to get around the $13 - 14,000 ($AUS) mark for ours...in fantastic condition and barely run in.

I suppose u may ask why such a change. Well I like the idea of a more powerful unit and a two seater in lieu of the current 3 seater. Not unhappy with the Yamaha by any stretch but would just like to get some thoughts/ideas off the forum members (without any bias... ) as to which direction I should take.

    All thoughts welcome.....cheers all.

** After reading all the stories about the apparent clutch problems it really has made me hesitant about jumping ship at this stage. Apparently the '06 model has rectified this but I am none too sure. Maybe someone could enlighten me on this or would u just have a Rotax Racing Supercharger Clutch Kit installed right from the word go. I would really be disappointed if it was one issue that held me back. **

    Thanks.

relatively few clutch's fail in the grand scheme of things. you only hear about the ones that do fail.

It seem that most of the clutches that have failed are on modded boats.

also.... small lake and river riders normally don't experience any problem.... the higher volume of failures come from area in the ocean and rough wide open bays that get real rough conditions.

They have a steady stream of clutch failures at MY dealer in Mesa. We don't have any ocean in AZ last time I looked. I'd be guessing, but the majority of them were bone stock, with nothing but dealer service.

I don't agree with scaring folks, but lets not gloss over the truth of the matter. No one wins, and the problem doesn't get addressed. The clutches are STILL failing. The RXT is a great platform, except that clutch.

The dealership I work at has had 1. It just came in. That being said I am sure the volume of doos going out the door there does not compare with what is sold in the States.
