    Ultra LX Steering

Just picked up this new 2012 and the handlebar direction is off when cruising. Plenty of play in the steering but I'm not concerned too much with that but when cruising the handlebars are quite a bit to the right while going straight. If the handlebars are straight, I'm turning left. Is this a do it yourself realignment or not? Could it be a fix under warranty?

Before tearing into it, any suggestions how to fix this myself? Also wondering about the amount of play in the steering. I'm guessing the play is normal but is there an easy way to tighten it up? Thinking these 2 issues are separate but would like to get my handlebars back to how they should be.

    G'day,

It's all explained in the owners manual under Maintenance and Adjustments, you can download the manual from Kawasaki .

Mate just go to the back of the ski and grab the steering nozzle. Turn it left to right and you see the bars also turn. To the left of the nozzle is a steering cable fixed to it with a 10mm bolt. There is an adjustable collar which needs to be screwed in or out onto the steering cable. You just need to remove that 10mm bolt first. Easy fix

Thanks. Even though it is biased towards the right, it turns better (tighter turns) to the left. By adjusting back to the left, will I lose even more turning to the right? Just curious how that works. Or, even though I adjust it to straighten the bars out, will my right hand steering stay the same?

    Thanks for the help!

I'll know in a day or two. It's sitting in the water right now helping me catch some fish.

I used all of the adjustment available to get the handlebars straight and it's still turned to the right when going straight. Also, lock to lock when cable is hooked up the ski turns much better to the left. I can measure the edge of the steering nozzle on both right and left hand turns and there is a sharper turn to the left. Take the steering cable off and swivel the nozzle and they lock at the same measurement but not when cable is hooked up. Much better turn to the left and handlebars still cocked right when going straight....

    Now....?

That's great. If I was a pigmy I'd jump right in. New ski under warranty, I'll see if I can squeeze into that engine compartment and figure it out. If not, hopefully a dealer tech is 5'0".

Iam 5''8 and i can fit in the storage area ....you dont go in threw engine area

but if its under warranty it nothing you should touch

put straight edge across steering nozzle square to rear of the hull, steering should be straight , if it aint take it back .
