    2014 FZS Paint Flaking

I was pulling up to the dock the other day and I hit a nail and barely scratched the paint under the hull. I took it out today and when I picked it up I noticed I had about the size of a dollar bill that peeled off. Will it continue to get worse and what should I do?

Take it to the dealer, can you tell it was hit?

I have exactly the same ski as you. Heaps of paint is flaking off underneath. Ski is always floated in waist deep water and never beached. I'm sure the ski will be fixed under warranty so I'm not stressed. Bottom damage is not cheap because in most cases the engine battery and fuel all need to be removed in order to flip the ski for repair.

Looks like they will de laminated quickly if a stop is not put to it immediately. I have heard of two other cases.

Maybe make that six... Mine had superficial damage to hull bottom before ever being used, but some paint was flaking around it which is how I noticed it on the trailer.

As I said, ski was just driven home new. Yamaha have had a look, there was another next to mine back at the shop with flaking paint. I'll wait and see about repair, it doesn't affect anything really... So far bottom of ski has never touched beach, I just launch from shore of lake and leave the trailer in the water - the "sand" is actually decomposed granite which is almost as hard as diamond or three day old muesli...

You may as well make that 7. New FX SVHO noticed paint peeling after first run no chip or scratch in the immediate area. Been out since and more paint just peels off. The shop I bought it from have agreed to fix but it's 4.5 hrs from mine so haven't returned it yet.

Wow...is this a AUS/NZ issue? Im only seeing locations listed there with this issue. Im wondering where these units were specifically built.

Anyone in the states experiencing these paint issues?
