I've been trying to figure out the best mount position as well.

The handlebar Ram mount seems like it would be sort of in the way.

On the glovebox seems ideal positioning.

Would the Ram mount part that just holds the gps... higher in the thread (without the articulating little arm piece)... bolted directly to the outside of the glovebox door work?

Is the door strong enough to stave off vibration and/or inadvertently opening with that additional weight on it?

Yes that would work bolting it right to the glove box lid. It depends on how much you trust that lid to not break with the added weight of the GPS and the potential pounding your ski would take in rough water. I also like having the GPS somewhat visible without having to take my eyes off where I am going. I have one on a handle bar mount and I like how it works. I also have a mount on the hood on another ski. I like the handle bar mount because its closer to you and easier to see.

I tried one of these out yesterday and can't decide if I'd rather deal with losing a little bit of handlebar room or drill some holes and bolt the sucker to the dash. The positioning arm is handy though...you can stick it up almost in your face or let it reach over toward the center of the handle bars.

Any updates on people mounting a gps to their Spark. I'm thinking Garmin GPS78, Ram cradle screwed into the glove box cover? maybe with bracket/brace on the inside to add support?

I don't have a Spark, but I do have the GPSMap78 with a suction cup RAM mount. It holds really well, but I do remove it when I'm going to play hard.
