    Engine swap now no dash

This weekend I swap an engine that I source from a 2007 FX HO into my 2004 FX HO. I used pretty much the whole engine assembly aside from the gauge cluster and computer from the 2004. When I purchased the 2004, it was not running but when I hooked it up to a battery the gauge cluster came on and said that it had 100 hours. Now after swapping the motor in, the ski will not start and the gauge cluster will not read anything when it is hooked to a battery but will respond by flashing when I try to lock and unlock the ski via the of the FOB. All of my connections seem good. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Does the ski actually unlock or is it just flashing? What harness are you using for the main harness and what harness for the engine.

I am using the main harness from the 2004. I used the throttle bodies/airbox from the 2007.

So it does not unlock? So the dash flashes when you just hit the remote or your hitting the remote and then trying it with the start button and getting the flash.

It will only flash whenever I hit the lock or unlock on the remote. The start button will turn the motor over but nothing on the dash will come up. The engine just spins with an unlit dash.

    Does it have spark?
if it does not check the throttle cable and loosen it up.
Then if it still does not check the idle valve off the throttle body and just unplug that.

next best bet would be to get it hooked up to yds.
i will check the manual tomorrow and check some things but usually it's one of the two above and cutting the spark and maybe it's not activating the gauge but it's been so long since I had the older ho's with an issue I forget how the gauge is.

I have not had a chance to check for spark but I will try to take a look this week.

I was able to get the dash to work by switching out the ground connector on the side of the oil cooler. The 2004 used a 4 wire connector while the 2007 used a 3 wire setup. I also swapped the throttle body assembly from the 2004 onto the 2007 engine but I still cannot get the ski to fire. It turns over but I am not getting any spark. Any ideas?

Unplug the idle valve off the throttle body and see if you get spark and make sure the throttle cable is loose
