Rev Lmiter Setting Compared to Peak RPM

I am going to install a valve train upgrade and a couple of questions came to mind....... On the 2012 and later RXPX skis, you can set the dash to hold the peak RPM that the motor sees.

What RPM are you seeing as a peak?

Is the peak higher than what the rev limiter is set to?

What ECU, tune and rev limit are you running?

I am just wondering how good the rev limiters are at catching the revs as you come in and out of the water at WOT.

I remember seeing 8800rpm in the first 7 hours I had my ski from coming unhooked and catching a random wave (ski was completely stock). After that tho, I have paid attention a lot better and never go to far above what ever limiter I am set at.

No rev limiter will be able to hold the engine back from spiking rpm's when unhooking. It can cut fuel, throttle position, and pull timing all it wants.... it can't stop or hold down the rotation of the engine. I don't pay attention to my dash for accurate info, but a data log will show rpm's in excess of 10k depending on what the rpm was when you unhook under power. A/f ratio will also be in the low 20's when this happens.

Exactly, unhooking 1miilion times during a race to 9500rpm and 18lbs of boost with lean AFRs can't be good in the long run! boooom!!
