more speed for my 2012 vxr

    Hey all,

I,m a new member in seattle area. I have a 2012 vxr that I bought last year to replace my 2003 gp1300r w/Riva stage II. I just added the Riva intake insert, power filter, crank case breather, scoop grate, ride plate, solas 13-19 impeller and rear exhaust. I'm very impressed with the accelleration and I know it is a little faster on top, 7790 rpm. I,m getting low speed readings on my speedo because of the Riva ride plate. The area that the speed sensor mounts to is at a different angle than the stock plate. I have shimmed it down with washers wich has helped a little but speed readings are still low. I am on the fence about buying the Riva pro water box and Jim's modded ride plate. I hope to get some feedback about this.

    Thanks, Dave

Get rid of the Riva grate and Riva plate. Use R&D aquavein Grate, Jims ride plate, and add the water box for some good noise. Lol. Shim your plate when done, fill all voids if possible around ride plate, transom plate. Do you have stock ecu? Do you have an aftermarket tach? Open the hull up for cooling via frogskinz or florites. Make your ram air functional. What was your gps speed? Is the power filter the one that is in the stock air box? If so get rid of that and make your own.

My ecu is stock, I have a Tiny Tach, I have the $500 Riva power filter kit, and no gps. I'm not willing to replace my Riva grate because I used a shit load of rtv sealant on it, and it is made of stainless steel.

    Thanks, Dave

I've heard that the riva waterbox gives it a pretty loud drone.

If you want an accurate top speed reading you need to get a gps. they also make speedometer apps and from experience I've seen that some of them can be spot on with the real gps. The stock speedo wheel on the skis is never accurate. on my gpr it bouces around from 60-80mph.

It will come off.....that grate is scrubbing 1-1.5 mph. U asked for speed help so thats what we will attempt to provide...Are u using factory shims on plate? Gps is gonna help big time. Did u remove all of stock air intake? U didn't mention ribbon delete...that Solas prop is junk...get a skat start with a 13/16 and watch Rpms
