    1996 Sea Doo XP

Going to look at a 1996 Sea Doo XP. Hull looks in good shape. Handle bar shroud is mildewed and seat is cover/vinvly is jacked. Says runs great and has new carbs. Trim/VTS is inoperable. Comes with trailer. Will have to drive three hours to see in person and test on the water. What would you say it is worth if all checks out other than the VTS?

    Thanks,

    Stunnaman

Did you get the ski? Check compression it should be around 150psi and both cylinders should be about same. 120psi is considered ok but 150 in one cylinder and 120 in another is a problem. Check for weak spots in the fiberglass. Get underneath it and push on the hull with your fingers, if it's weak you'll feel it. Check the Impellor and see if it's nice and tight against the wear ring. When you ride it try to notice any cavitiaion, also look inside the hull and confirm it doesn't take in water and there is no smell of gas. The gas tanks crack near the filler hose but easy and cheap to replace.

Where is the ski located? Location matters on price Here in mass people list them from 800 which sell quick to 2k which sit on CL for a while I'd say around 1300 is a good deal if it all checks out.

$1300 for a 1996 XP?? Then I have some beachfront property in Siberia I'd like to sell you. I bought a very mint '96 XP, modded nicely, absolutely NO ISSUES, 3 years ago for $900!! Nice little watercraft if all checks out but I wouldn't pay a red penny more than $900. My $0.02

Those people are smoking crack and that's the reason they are on craigslist and not sold. A mint fresh water 96xp is worth maybe 1000 at very best. A salty ski is worth maybe $2-400

It really depends on the area. Skis and boats both bring more than usual around here. I sold my '93 VXR Pro and a '97 Gsi on a double trailer last year for $2500, and a guy pulled in as we were finishing the deal that had just gotten the loan approval from his bank that wanted them too!
