    Gtx and GTX SC?

Hello all, I am looking at a 2002 GTX or a 2004 GTX SC...

I am looking at these primarily because the rxt is out of my price range and i want a 3 seater.

I know to stay away from the 2003 models because they have the plastic pumps, but i was just wondering the stock top speed of these craft?

Any opinions on either of them?

    Thanks

Go with the '04, I assume that the '02 is non-supercharged. You'll like the 185hp over the 02's 155 hp. BTW, my 03's both ran 60-61 in the heat. We GPS'd a 155 horse at about 55.
People make a big deal out the plastic pump issue. Mine haven't failed, they just eat $60 wear rings every year or so.
I do have an aluminum pump on one of my skis, but I got it through a friend who made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
If you get a great deal on the ski and you have the money, go get yourself an aluminum pump. You'll need it for higher HP levels. If not, buy a boxful of wear rings and, if you don't already know, learn how to install them yourself. Don't forget that you can check it for wear then flip the wear ring over to double it's service life.

Alright, thanks for the info! Do you need to run the gtx sc on premium gas?

Apparently I have one of the first '04's built with a metal pump, in 03/04. This is what I'm told based on VIN and helpful mechanic.

Put about 40 pretty hard hours on it bone stock, and just finished up a Stage 1.

Bone stock, top GPS speed - 61.8 mph, 60.6 ~ 61 average. For a big ass 3 seater, and a dialed down SC'd engine (no intercooler, lower revving ECU, lowered geared SC, different nozzle, etc., etc.), the GTX SC is no slouch. If it's in your price range, you could do a LOT worse for a 3 seater. Get rid of OPAS too.

No GPS #'s for Stage 1 yet.

"NEED" is subjective, but I would say yes! I run only 93 octane in mine, and fresh...

I`d have to say yes. Normally it would be in your owners manual, and which 4 digit/code model (little white stickers found all around in the hull, various places would tell you for sure. But I have an 04 GTX SC and yes, have to use premium, you don`t want anything less than 92...PR...

I would look at hours used on each machine, and check service records for SC maintenance on the 04, look at the hulls. I heard the 2002 were better handling, but the 04`s were a bit better engine wise by 04. You def don`t want to buy the GTX SC if it ate a ceramic clutch!...PR...
