Speed Issue with my 2009 FZR

    Hello,

im new the world of jet skis and i just got myself a 2009 fzr doing 140 hours

i noticed that when i first ride it, top speed is around 66 mph...but after 45 minutes of riding, the top speed reduces to 50 mph

this happens every time i take it for a ride

any idea why this is happening ?

    thanks guys !

Sounds like your getting some heat soak through the intercooler or the motor and the ecu is cutting your timing back. Does water squirt out both sides of the hull outlets while you ride, and if they do are the dribbling or running a clean stream?

This is the first thing I would look at as it's the most basic check to do, and go from there.
There's a lot of guys on here that are so clued up I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of the problem very soon.

Seams a bit more than heal soak loss
More like a loss of boost

the top speed gets back to normal (66 mph) when i leave it to cool down...is the loss of boost something i should worry about ?

It's possible that you are overheating the engine due to a cooling problem
Does the throttle feel like it is not working when the speed loss happens ?

The clutch failing will drop speed to around 50 mph as well
But it doesn't usually come good as the engine cools

throttle is working fine, but after a while of driving it seems that its not reaching its full boost...the agency told me there is was an air leak and had to tighten some holders
