    R&D pump seal fit??

Tried fitting an S3 R&D pump seal this weekend and it was way too tall??!?

When I pushed it down as far as it would go on the pump / wear ring edge, it was still 15mm sticking out beyond the end of the WR. Impossible to fit like that.

    I've fitted non S3 R&D seals without a problem.

    Thought/experiences.

My thought is that the S3 version is for the pump which bolts to the ride plate NOT regular newer S3 hulls.

The non S3 version I think would be perfect for newer S3 hulls.

Shame I didn't have one here to try (on the way from Jerry).

Let us know how it goes. But you're on an 2011, so if I'm right, yours should fit perfectly.

It went on the pump no issues. I'll see how it "fits" when bolted up hopefully tomorrow or Friday.

There's no way all this extra rubber's gonna fit in the pump shoe, let alone seal!!

There has to be a compatibility issue here for 2012 S3 hulls?!?!

Be careful when you push it into the pump, that seal's a big one. I used some PTFE spray which helped it slide in.

Shame my seal didn't fit, especially after dragging out all the IBR & VTS as you have to. Hey ho!

damn you could almost make 2 seals out of the 1

Been in touch with R&D direct. Apparently, there are only two seals; a "for S3 hull" and a "NOT for S3 hull".

I bought the "for S3 hull" as I have a 2012 RXTX with S3 hull. But I need the other one!!!!!!!

Still confused, but couldn't get R&D to understand their obvious mistake. They just said, "there are two different types of pump, you need to choose the seal that fits the pump you have".

    I give up!!

i just put it in on my 11.. the pump bolts to the ride plate.. your seal that you have there is for that type of setup..

it was an extremely tight fight.. even with oiling and lining everything up..
we had to hit the stator with a sledgehammer and a block of wood several times to get the pump all the way in..
i feel bad for anyone that has to take it out.. i am not doing that again..

Wow! Love your style. If it doesn't fit, hit it with a hammer, if that doesn't work use a sledgehammer - ha!

Been there so many times, feels wrong, but often the right solution.
