    Tops valve

    05 155 WAKE
can a faulty tops valve cause excessive oil consumption?
i took the intake pipe off and the throttle body is quite oily
can't work out where 1l/hr is going, it's not in the bilge

if the tops valve does not open
no oil or fumes can come out of the breather

1 litre per hour approx! i covered it all in an earlier post

this may go some of the way to explaining my problem! compression readings are 190(not200), 140, 200
    could be ahead gasket?

you would need a faulty tops valve and crank case pressure switch because a faulty tops valve alone would trigger a code. and if that's a case you would most likely blow the dipstick out before anything else. its possible that you are ready the oil level incorrectly if you have 1 quart too many in there its all going to come out the tops valve and into the intake

i thought it was strange that a faulty tops valve would cause excess oil back thru the intake( a seadoo service agent's theory!)
it does blow blue smoke when idling, but can't notice anything underway.
it was serviced when i bought it at 85hrs, oil light on at 87, topped up and oil light on again at 92.2.
oil checked after a 20sec startup.
can the head be removed still in the hull, the bottom exhaust nut look difficult to get to?

Something wrong with your #2 hole. probably rings and or scratched up walls causing oil to burn.

Put a teaspoon of oil in the #2 hole and see if compression comes back up. if it dose you have ring problems.

You can pull the head with motor in the ski. pull the head with the exhaust manifold still bolted on.

off the top of my head, the only best case scenario would have been over filling it with oil. see how much oil you have in the intake tube and then the supercharger and then the intake manifold as you remove the parts. If all of them are relatively dry, youre most likely looking at engine problems. If the oil is going through the intake, then you should have a puddle of it in the intake manifold.
