    Solas decipher

Anyone know what the first number on a Solas prop stands for? We know the second number is pitch. For example, 15/21 is a 21 pitch (21" travel for one rotation) but the 15? Can't be diameter as that would be 155 or 159. So what is it and what effect does it have on the ski???

15 is leading edge angle second is trailing edge angle. It does not relate like boat props as in 12 is 12" per revolution.

Aha! That's where I've got mislead. Is there anyway of ranking Solas props from shallow to steep so that the rpm (gain or loss) is more predictable before fine tuning with blade tweaking?

Trying to figure out how changing from my stock 13/23 turning 8040 (on limiter before I go Vtech) to a 15/21 will affect rpm and top speed. Is this change more aggressive or less? Will it bog down until I get the Vtech or just max rpm onto limiter with a lower top speed?

The problem is every manufacturer measures different so a stock 13/23 will not be the same as a Skat 13/23.

    Cheers, would appreciate that.

Could you also hold the throttle at 8040 rpm and give me the mph. That would close my circle of calculations.

thought it was revolutions per min. / and pitch? (this is the standard for all other propelers?
