    2013 vs 2013.5

    Seen references to the 2013.5 and sounds like there were some upgrades mid year. Any real differences a novice would want to know about? Just sold the 2012 I purchased because someone up North offered me a couple grand more than I paid for it.

    Thinking about a newer 300x (I can get a 2013 for about 12k here) or possibly an FX SVHO. Fuel consumption on the 300 did bother me a little but doubt the SVHO would be much better. Anyone have info on that? Other thing that bugs me is the clutch on the SV. Don't really want to be fixing my SC at the 100 hour mark. The 300 was incredible in every way, but couldn't pass up the chance to make a few bucks and possible buy a newer ski.

    My riding isn't the hardcore open water type. I ride her hard but it's hooked up 99% of the time.

    There were several upgrades to the 2013.5 such as the triangular catch can. Others will have more to say about this.

    I say get the 300. And here's why. The 300 is better in rough water, has nearly twice the storage, much better acceleration, stronger hull, and a maintenance free SC. they both need premium fuel and both suck it down. The FX gets 2 or 3 mph more than the 300(can turn the tables with a SCOM) but you are sacrificing the holeshot of the kawi. The 300 has spoiled you and downgrading acceleration, rough water ability, storage, etc. getting the SVHO will just leave you disappointed IMO.

    2013.5 issue for some is the traction control in the ECU.
    Everything else is upgradable except for the piston ring that will be a bit harder.

    I don't want to swap brands for .5 mpg if that's all I'd get out of a Yammi. When cruising at 40 or so (don't remember RPM) I wasn't on the boost and seemed to be pretty economical... It was my first supercharged ski and was absolutely blown away by the performance. Couldn't have imagined a PWC could be that fast.

    I like nice toys. That's why I'm riding a K1600GT.

    To me, the Kawi has 'em beat in looks (Yammi is butt ugly), solid engine, fit/finish, hull seems bombproof (nanoxcel seems cheap and don't really like the idea of a painted hull on a boat), and SC seems reliable from the reports. Yammi engine is reliable and better economy are the only 2 reasons I consider them.

    I think the kawi has better range due to the size of the fuel tank. The kawi is plenty reliable. I have had no trouble with mine. If you are going to mod and try to build an 80+ mph ski, then I'd suggest the svho.
