    Filling pump shoe

I am filling the pump shoe on my yamaha suv and was curious as to what most use to fill with. I was thinking of using micro balloons and fiberglass resin; any thoughts? Also when I go back together with the pump what kind of sealant should I use?

You can use casting resin then sand flat, lots of people go that route on here and I'm sure someone will chime in that used it. When I resealed my pump shoe recently my ppk was still in decent shape so I used it again. Some pieces where a little warped and had bubbles but I sanded them and cleaned it up with a dremal.

Not sure if I have seen that stuff I will look though. Any ideas on sealant for sealing ride plate?

DO NOT use fiberglass resin. Epoxy resin is what you will want.

Whats the the problem with using fiberglass resin? I was reading that's what some people used with satisfactory results.

    Thanks for the reply.

Are you just filling voids in the aluminum shoe? Or are you also making it a smooth transition into the hull?

In that case the resin would work fine or just fill the voids with plain old cheap silicone.

Why, thats what I used....but I got my mix a little hot and it cooked off pretty quick. I think I still need cover the resin with silicone.
I used both on various part of the pump shoe....

I thought originally for some reason the OP might be blending into the hull. Been reading too many stand up threads lately.
